European Union Approves Neurostimulation for Chronic Migraine
Just yesterday I implanted a trigeminal nerve stimulator in a patient for chronic migraine. At our Northshore Clinic, we have been fortunate to participate in the care of multiple longterm chronic migraine patients whose lives have been drastically improved with nerve stimulation. In September of 2012, the European Union approval this technology for chronic migraine. Unfortunately, some of our patients have experienced difficulty with insurance approval. We have worked closely with patients, insurance companies and device manufacturers to obtain approve for multiple patients.
I’ve been encouraged to witness the response of patients to this technology and will continue to both offer the treatment, and advocate for coverage of the procedure.
