Portable TMS for Migraine Treatment
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a potential new treatment for migraine. TMS is approved and a portable device is available in Europe. This therapy is to stop a migraine in patients that have migraine with visual changes or aura. The device is held on the back of the head and two pulses are delivered 30 seconds apart. Some patients experience mild tingling with the stimulation. The device cost the equivalent of $750 in Europe. In the US, it is under FDA review. The potential US supplier has a video which is linked below. We are following this closely and are hopeful it will provide a new method to stop migraine without medications. We are continuously evaluating new way of approaching and treating patients at our northshore pain clinic.
