New Study Strengthens Case for Injections in Chronic Low Back Pain
A new study in Pain Physician (2014;17:E489-E501) suggests that transforaminal epidural injections are an effective way to manage chronic low back pain especially for disk herniation and spinal nerve irritation.
In patients with pain for greater than 6 months, researchers found that six procedures in a two year period provided relief in about 60% of patients. The patients continued their pain management regimens of exercise, physical therapy and medications with the injection treatments. In addition, opiate use decreased in the group that responded to injections.
Our Northshore Clinic specializes in spinal injections and care of patients in pain. Our surgery center and nurses are dedicated to only pain treatment.
